Compositional draft for an oil painting titled The National Picture, now lost (a smaller version is in the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery is known as The Conciliation, 1840. The image depicts George Augustus Robinson negotiating with a group of Tasmanian Aborigines. Duterrau's National Picture is the subject of Stephen Scheding's book The National Picture, (published by Random House, 2002)
