Daniel Charles Grose worked in both Canada and America and is regarded as a minor member of the later generation of the Hudson River School. He toured the world for a few years from about 1877 and painted in Australia during this time. The view is from from Blues Point Road, McMahon’s Point. Bernhardt Holtermann created his photographic panoramas of Sydney Harbour from a similar position at about the same time..
